In the queer male world we talk a lot about pride…
We talk about gay pride but not gay shame…
Shame born of the fact that few of us fit the intensely sculpted archetypes of beauty to whom we pay allegiance…
Shame born of internalized homophobia and the catty pettiness and performativity that so often defines our spaces…
Why adore sinuous washboard abdominals, but not the erotic comfort of fat bearing curves…
Why demand that we hit the gym five days a week to feel desirable…
We are prisoners of our own constricted imaginations…
We are addicted to the unrealistic and unattainable bodies of models and porn stars…
I know this to be true of myself…
I write this with some hypocrisy in that the images I turn to in my work are often ripped and conventionally beautiful…
Let us challenge ourselves to grow as a community…
Let us challenge ourselves to embrace body positivity—to embrace the diverse array of who and what can be sexually alluring….
All of our bodies are potent engines of pleasure and all of us deserve to be celebrated…
Our future can be branded with an inclusive pride paying homage to a mosaic of physical types and gender presentations…
Our future can be fierce and existentially creative…
Our future can be utterly dope and intensely body positive…

One thought on “BODY POSITIVE”
Body image issues can be a problem however, there is somebody for everyone. Ripped men and buffed men are single too. WHY?
